COMMISSIONS

I would be honored to paint something unique for you. Whether it be a painting of a loved one, a beloved pet, or your favorite vacation spot, the choice is yours!

FAQs

what is your commission process?

After a Commission Contract is signed, I will begin sketching and composing my painting. I will email you my sketches and designs beforehand, so I have a clear vision of what you’d like.

Paintings are done on pre-stretched, gallery wrapped canvas, beginning at 12x12” and 1.5” deep. If your specific dimensions are unavailable, please let me know, and we can order a custom canvas (additional fees may apply). If you’d like suggestions about sizes, please let me know.

Around 75% completion, I will send email photos of the work-in-progress, and encourage you to add your thoughts/opinions at this time.  Another photo will be sent upon completion, and upon your approval, I will varnish and prepare to ship/deliver the painting.

how does payment work?

After our initial conversation, a 50% deposit is required to begin the design process (PayPal, Venmo, Zelle or personal checks are accepted). I will send a Commission Contract to sign before you send the deposit.  The remaining 50% balance + shipping fees (if applicable) are due before delivery or shipment.

Invoices are sent via email and shipping estimates will be provided beforehand.

Unfortunately, due to the unique nature of a commissioned piece, refunds are not available.

how long does it take?

Length of completion depends mostly on size - larger works may take longer (approximately 15-16 weeks), while smaller works may be completed sooner (approximately 4-5 weeks). As we begin the process, I will be able to give you a more accurate timeline of completion. It takes me a few days to plan, sketch out the piece, prepare the canvas, and several weeks to finish.  I usually paint in oils, but in cases of tight deadlines, I will do the underpainting in acrylic and then do the finishing layers with oils. I will know around the 75% completion check-in how much longer the painting will take.

do you use anything other than oil paints?

I typically work with professional-grade oil paints. Sometimes I do the first layers in acrylic paint, then the finishing layers in oils. Occasionally I will work with 100% acrylics or do small sketches with ink & watercolors. Please specify if you’d like a different medium than oil paint.
